Prime example of 'running ahead of Jehovah' aka bucking the GB....The GB palces themselves above God's or anyone elses authority, including other anointed.
This will not turn out well for you.
new anointed rejected by the wt-society.
i listened through the lates download wt, june 15, 2009. www.jw.org there is an article: the faithful steward and its governing body.. this article makes it clear that new anointed will not be consulted in preparing spiritual food.
other sheep are also told in other words not to listen to the opinion of new anointed in the congregations.. .

as i was exiting the society back in 1992, the elders were frantically trying to reason with me and kept saying that i was trying to run ahead of jehovah or running ahead of the organization?
just what does that entail?.
or they would tell me to "wait on jehovah" and eventually some of my beliefs/issues will be in line with the truth.
By this doctrine they place themselves above God and the bible.
First example is something is true in the bible but not endorsed by the FDS:
If a JW finds something to be true in the bible, without a doubt in their mind, they can only believe it if it's endorsed by the FDS. Similarly, if the JW finds something the FDS teaches to not be in the bible then they are not allowed to reject the teaching. Here is a great example of this: My dad was the PO for most of my teen years and at one time he was the only elder in a cong of around one hundred. Well, one day we were talking about the disfellowshipment arrangement and why the people have to wait so long before they are reinstated. I thought that if a person was repentant that they would be reinstated immediately, so I posed a hypothetically question to my dad. If someone were repentant after one month or less of being disfellowshipped wouldn't they be reinstated? He said no!! and then said that he did not agree!!!!!! I about fell out. He proceeded to tell me that there were mandatory time limits placed on disfellowshipped ones and they could not return before they had reached those time limits. Then he explained that this was not a biblical teaching and could prove it! Nonetheless he had to enforce the FDS teachings over what he knew to be true in the bible. Both my dad was placing the authority of the FDS over the bible, simply because he would be seen as "running ahead".
Second example is something that is taught by the FDS but it is not found in the bible:
There is one slightly different way that a person can disagree with the society and still be running ahead. Say, that a JW in the Golden Age period found that the reasoning for not allowing vaccinations was not found in the bible. This JW would have to wait on the FDS to change their minds before they could receive vaccines; they in no way would be able to claim that they don’t want to follow something that is not in the bible.
i've been out of the org for around 10 years, so i'm not up on some of the jargon being used on the board.. would anyone mind making a list defining the acronyms being used (as many as you can think of)?
i know there are tons of them; some of which are self-explanitory, and others have me stumped.
i see a new one every time i log on.
This needed a bump for all the new members.
this may be old news to some while most won't even know who he is.
in case you don't know him, he was a jw that defended many of the jw doctrine publicly.
he did this mainly in the form of two books, jw's defended and three dissertations on the teachings of jw's.

Yaga,
I totally agree, this is very sad. I cannot imagine how Greg feels. Though self inflicted, his situation quite hopeless. I can only hope that one day he can wake up and fully leave the witnesses.

In case you don't know him, he was a JW that defended many of the JW doctrine publicly. He did this mainly in the form of two books, JW's Defended and Three Dissertations on the Teachings of JW's. He also was involved in two debates with Christian Apologists Robert Bowman and James While in regards to the Trinity. In these debates he takes a different approach than what the Borg teaches, he fully affirms Jesus as a god (but a lesser god than Jehovah), denies that Michael the Archangel is Christ, and is effectively a Henotheist. In christian apologetic circles he was well know as a JW apologist, infact THE JW apologist.
The split seems to be over the blood issue, as he does not agree with the society. This is from his website elihubooks.com ...
The wrongs I speak of are not just “minor” misinterpretations of certain prophecies that
can work themselves out over time. What I am referring to are serious
misrepresentations of Jah’s commands and of the teachings of Jesus Christ as found in
the New Testament, commands and teachings that are fundamental to Christian faith.
These errors are not just harmless preferences for social behavior, but they are often
fatal positions that have no basis in Scripture and in some cases no basis even in
science or in medicine, though they claim to be so based. When a group has some, even
many things right but at the same time also has wrongs that it tolerates or refuses to
correct in spite of evidence that is provided to it that reasonably shows certain teachings
are wrong, and when those false teachings are hurting people’s faith, destroying
families, and even causing loss of life, then Christians, Witnesses of Jah, have no
business remaining part of that group unless it is to help correct such wrongs. And
when it is clear that such wrongs are not or will not be corrected, then for the sake of
Jah and Jesus Christ Christians must reject those who tolerate such things. That is why I
am not a Trinitarian. That is why I reject Joseph Smith as a prophet of God. That is why I
reject witchcraft and magic. That is why I do not worship Allah. That is why I will no
longer associate myself with the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society. It is why I am a
Christian Witness of Jah.
the winter 2009 issue of harvard divinity bulletin features a question.
and answer segment with peter gomes.
gomes has served.
I don't think that Gomes is really giving the JW much credit. I think that his point is this, There is a group of people that have odd teachings about the bible that are easily defeated with a little bible study, but you cannot do it as a believing Christian.....that is sad, and say a ton about the average Christian's understanding of the bible/how deep their faith is and the failure of church leaders as a whole.
To your other question. YES and NO.
NO= It is not because I was drilled, per se, as a JW about the bible but because I was fooledby the WTBTS and wanted to learn what the bible really teached.
YES= Because they go so far in trying to proove their doctrine it has made me digg deeper than I would have otherwise.

Parrot,
Simply read the letter that the NGO section of the DPI put out in regards to the Watchtower and their association.....it is the first scan in the link provided in the previous post.
The DPI would have no reason to lie, they would be easily ousted if they were to lie. Here is what they said, "By accepting association with the DPI, the organization agreed to meat criteria for association, including support and respect of the principles of the Charter of the United Nations"
They simply have no reason to lie about this.
How can the Watchtower support something that it opposes soooo much.
